The man died when the loading door of a construction dumpster hit him in the head, according to the NYPD.
AUBURNDALE, QUEENS — A man was fatally crushed by a dumpster in northeast Queens Monday morning, police said.
The construction dumpster was being unloaded in the driveway of a home on 191st Street near Northern Boulevard at about 10:30 a.m., when the man — who was standing in the driveway at the time — was hit in the head by the loading door, according to the NYPD.
A report from the Buildings Department says that the man was “pinned between [the] dumpster and the house.”
Medics rushed to the house and pronounced the 32-year-old man, who had severe head injuries, dead at the scene, records show. The man’s name was not immediately released.
The person who was operating the dumpster unloading vehicle stayed at the house after the fatal incident.
An investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad, which looks into traffic safety incidents, is ongoing, the NYPD said on Monday evening.
The two story home where the accident occurred was sold to a new owner on Jan. 13, records show.
